The English Explorer Online TESOL Course

Learn online in your own time – 80 hours

The English Explorer online course is interactive and stimulating. You can study online, in your own time and at your own pace.

As you progress through the information presented online you complete a set of questions to assess your understanding of the course content. The results are fed back to you instantly.

While online, if you find you don’t understand something, you can call or email the English Explorer Course Coordinator for assistance. Our goal is to get you through the course. For major difficulties face-to-face assistance can be arranged in your location. Studying with English Explorer is an ongoing partnership.

Please Note: For International recognition a certificate course needs to encompass 120hours, including practical components. We meet this criteria.

The course comprises two core units, each of 20 hours:

1. The Structures Of Language (required)
2. Then choose one of the following:
• Strategies For Teaching Adults
• Strategies For Teaching Children

You then select two of the following 20 hour elective units:

1. Teaching English For Academic Entry
2. Teaching English For Travellers
3. Teaching English For The Hospitality Industry
4. Teaching English For Business

Face to face training – 40 hours (required)

The practical face to face training covers the skills of teaching. After completing the training you’ll be ready to step up in front of a classroom of students to deliver effective and rewarding lessons.

Ideally you complete the practical face to face training first then the online modules but it’s up to you.

The practical face to face training covers:

1. Getting started  -  2 hours
2. Skills for teaching  -  22 hours
3. The practice of peer teaching  -  6 hours
4. Self-directed study at home  -  10 hours
