English Explorer is a wholly Australian owned company with outlets being developed nationally. EE was established to be a quality provider of educational services in the international marketplace.

The people involved in shaping EE are Australian educators who bring many years experience of working in schools as well as in the training sector and in the workplace.

Harry Clements-Shepherd

Harry is a Director and the dynamic CEO of English Explorer. As well as his formal qualifications, Harry is also a qualified Workplace Assessor, an E/ICDL trainer and examiner, and has gained his Cert TESOL. In 2001, Harry was named the WA ICT Teacher of the Year and in the following year was awarded the honour of being named the National ICT Educator of the Year.

Harry has a background in adult training through the TAFE sector, school-based teaching and Director of ICT in Perth independent schools, as well as involvement in various business enterprises over many years and in diverse places. Harry has had wide experience travelling in Indonesia, USA, Canada, UK/Europe, Thailand, Vietnam and more recently South Korea and China.

Helen Bryant

Helen first taught as a literacy and reading specialist as well as being involved in research for the ‘Torch Reading Testing Programme’. She is an English language specialist, apart from being multi lingual. She also has a wide international network developed from her many extra curricular and charitable appointments, at local and international levels. She has travelled widely and has strong networks in USA, Europe and Israel. Helen works closely with any of our students who need a mentor.

Lesley Gilmour

Lesley has been a teacher of English as a Second Language for over 25 years since developing her interest in the education and needs of adult learners in the workplace. Lesley has worked with recent new arrivals from south-east Asia and Africa, including refugees who spoke no English, as well as developing and writing programmes for indigenous Australians. Lesley’ s focus has been on meeting the needs of her students.

Lesley developed the material and consults for the on line unit of ‘Teaching English for Academic Entry’. Leslie has also travelled extensively in both Europe and the UK.

Andrew O’Connell

Andrew brings a younger person’s perspective to EE. After qualifying as a physiotherapist and working for 3 years in this field in Melbourne, Andrew began his travelling through Europe 5 years ago, but got no further than Reggio Emilia where, after being asked to help with some classes in a Language School, he has discovered his passion and joy for both teaching and language. He now explores Europe and other destinations during his school breaks.

Andrew is the course writer for our two most popular elective Units: Teaching English for Business, and Teaching English for the Hospitality Industry.

James Yeo

James Yeo

While James currently lives in Melbourne's suburbs, having graduated from Monash University with an M Ed by completing his thesis on An Investigation into Curriculum Adaptability of Chinese-Australian Joint MBA Programs, his homeland is China. James graduated from Hunan Normal University with his BA (specialising in English Education) in 1995, where he also taught English for six years before moving to Lexington Community College, USA, where he worked and taught Mandarin. Once in Melbourne, James gained a Certificate in Workplace Training to assist him in his teaching of English at the Melbourne Institute of Finance & Management, where his reliable and enthusiastic approach for teaching made him popular with both students and staff. Amongst his other work, James is also presently engaged in teaching Mandarin to adult Australian learners.

James has recently become EE's second east-coast based Trainer and Presenter.

Mei Xiao

Mei is another younger member of EE and, being a Chinese national, assists us in all matters relating to her native country. Mei undertook her Master’s Degree at Curtin University in Perth.

Candy Ling

Candy Ling

Candy is Hong_Kong based, fluent in English and Cantonese and, working for China International Travel. She can advise and assist you in getting to any destination in mainland China. Candy brings personal warmth, professionalism and a ‘can do’ attitude to all she does.

Florence McGinn

Florence McGinn

Florence is a poet, author and highly qualified; as well as nationally awarded, teacher of English in USA. She headed a large English Department in a well known Pennsylvanian school before joining The Global Knowledge Exchange as Executive Vice President. Florence consults to English Explorer on a range of web based learning matters. She knows from first hand experience in Australia (as a key note speaker at major conferences for classroom teachers) the subtle differences in our respective using of a common language. Among her recent appointments are:
